The Canadian Art Inspiration Contest For Grades K–12

Submissions for the Canadian Art Inspiration Contest are now closed.

The Canadian Art Inspiration Contest is a celebration of art from across the country, with Canada’s future artists at its heart. Open to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, the contest invited young creators to submit artworks inspired by or responding to leaders in Canadian art history. Broadly configured, works in any media that engage with this theme were accepted when the contest launched in Spring 2021, and we are looking forward to sharing and showcasing a selection of talented young participants in an online exhibition this fall.

From April through June 2021, ACI received artwork submissions from K-12 learners across the country. Artworks will be reviewed over the summer months, and awards will be announced in September 2021. Finalists’ artworks will be showcased in an online exhibition, and prizes will be awarded in different age groups, with $500 for first prizes and $250 for honourable mentions.

While submissions are now closed for this year’s contest, our activity ideas, curricular connections, and education resources are available year-round, in English and French, for free, and can be accessed here.
