Au terme d’une carrière ponctuée d’expositions nationales et internationales marquantes, Norval Morrisseau assoit sa place dans l’histoire de l’art canadien grâce à la rétrospective que lui consacre le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada à Ottawa, en 2006. Depuis, Morrisseau et son œuvre sont à l’origine de pièces de théâtre, de poèmes en prose et de spectacles de danse contemporaine. Chacune de ces créations consolide encore davantage son importance dans l’imaginaire culturel canadien, tandis que son vocabulaire visuel continue d’inspirer les artistes autochtones, ce qui indique que Morrisseau laisse un héritage durable à l’art canadien.
