Watch: ACI Massey Art Lecture on Paul Kane

ROM curator Arlene Gehmacher discusses controversial Canadian artist Paul Kane

Royal Ontario Museum curator Arlene Gehmacher visits Massey College to discuss her ACI online art book on Paul Kane, the cash-strapped, itinerant portrait painter who journeyed through Canada's west recording traditional Aboriginal life. Watch the lecture to learn more about the artist's adventuresome life, his times, and his sketches, studies, and oil paintings that reveal the trajectory of his career—from painter of society portraits to painter of the Aboriginal peoples of Canada, their lands, and customs.
